Heidi Chamberlain Shea, MD

Heidi Shea, M.D., received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of California at Davis, followed by a two-year period in research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in molecular genetics. She completed her M.D. in 1996 at the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University at Chicago, Maywood, Illinois, placing in the top 1/3 of her graduating class. As a medical student, she served as class president, was awarded the Father Fahey Academic and Service Scholarship and was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society.

Dr. Shea continued her training with a four-year residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, also working as pediatrics transport physician from 1997-2000 for Clarion Health in Indianapolis and serving as Chief Resident from 1999-2000.

From 2000-2004, Dr. Shea continued her training with a fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in the Department of Endocrinology, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and received the Outstanding Fellow Award in 2001 from Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. In 2005 she completed a year as a post graduate fellow in the department of Molecular Genetics also at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Throughout the two fellowships she also served as staff physician with First Care at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. 

Dr. Shea is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the subspecialty of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine subspecialty examiners. Dr. Shea is also board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and in Pediatric Endocrinology by the Board’s subspecialty examiners.

Dr. Shea has been a Clinical Endocrinologist with Endocrine Associates of Dallas in the Plano office since 2005. She is a member of the Endocrine Society, the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics and has been a member of several other medical and professional organizations. Dr. Shea has also been listed as a pediatric endocrinology specialist for Collin County in D Magazine in its annual “Best Doctors” feature.
